Habitat for Humanity Continues

This week we continued working on two of the Habitat houses in Sheridan. We've been splitting our time between the "Murphy House," which is a 6 bedroom, two-story house that will house a family of 7, and the left half of a duplex. When we arrived at the duplex on Monday, they had installed the sheetrock and some of the window trim, but otherwise the interior was bare. By the end of the day on Wednesday we had installed all of the door trim, baseboards, doors, shelves, blinds and bathroom fixtures in the house, as well as doing touch-up painting and general cleaning. Thursday we switched back over to the Murphy House and finished up the exterior painting. They've also got a house next door that they started recently that basically has the framing and trusses for the roof assembled. We installed blocking for the shelving and cabinets that will go in once the sheetrock is installed, put sheathing on the sides of the house and put all of the roofing tiles on the roof (we'll see about actually installing them next week).

In other news, we may be getting to do some deconstruction (read: demolition). They got the permits to do decon on a house that was donated to them, so hopefully next week we'll start ripping out cabinets, fixtures, doors, etc in order to prepare it for more work. Should be lots of fun. We also may be doing sheetrocking and mudding in the aforementioned house. If we're lucky, it won't be too cold outside. Actually, we've been joking that Cristal (From Arizona) and I brought our warm weather with us because the highs have been in the 50s for the last two weeks whereas it's normally around 30 and snowing this time of year.

This morning we cleaned the play place at the YMCA in town. At the end, things devolved into tag and running through the structure.
