Today we went to Antelope Island, which is the largest island in the Great Salt Lake and fairly close to Salt Lake City. The island is home to bison, bighorn sheep and lots of, you guessed it, antelope. We took a nice little hike up to a peak called Dooly’s Knob which sets you about 1000 feet above the surface of the lake and yields a great view of the Wasatch Front and the rest of the lake. Our original goal was to hike to Frary’s Peak – the highest point on the island – but the pass was blocked by snow and no one had the stomach for a long hike through knee-deep snow. When we headed back down we drove to the beach when we skipped rocks and Kristin took a dip in the lake. When we got back home we frantically packed our bags for the departure the next day.
